Thought For Today
A verse from the bible

Welcome to Men Awake.

What is Men Awake?

Men awake is a fresh initiative designed to encourage, inspire and unite Christian Men. We seek to enpower men to recover their true purpose, be more courageous in their battles and more faithful in their friendships. Our aim is to help and support men in our community.

Why do we need Men Awake?

There is a growing sense amongst many of us that JESUS, offer of life is greater than our current experience.

We invite you to join us on a journey of Discovery.

There are so many voices trying to tell us what it means to be a man that we are often confused.

We encourage you to recover what GOD has called you to be.

We often feel isolated and without adequate back up.

Can we develope a "Band of Brothers", with whom we can share our adventures, and who can join in lifes battles.

Men Awake can offer men the opportunity to embark on a journey to discover the adventure God has planned for them by providing the following:

  • Sharing Activities
  • Teaching Sessions
  • Small Group Discussions
  • Time and space for reflection
  • Counsel and encouragment
Scrumdown after church services.

One Man volunteers to lead and give a MAX OF 5 MINUTES, which can be in the way of testimony, prayer, a lesson, encouragement, object lesson. We have so much talent in this area we need to use it, a word came to me today whilst praying that word is, Effective how effective are we in terms of using our gifts and talents to build and advance the Kingdom, together we will be effective and only together.

.Click here to read about our last scrumdown

If you don't want to take part in the Scrum Down that's ok its not compulsory, remember we are free men and we have a choice because of what Jesus did for us on the cross he paid the price so we are free indeed. We are free to adventure together bonded in Christ Jesus.

Remember the Adventure starts here

Aprils visit to Elvington Air Museum.

With just a few seats left on the church bus we set off for our Men Awake day out at the Elvington Air Museum.

Not only were we blessed with the weather, but also a very kind and generous lady at the entrance gate who gave us a great discount on admission fees.(with the driver getting in free (he! he! he!)

There were many aircraft to look at,from the First World War through to the 1960s/80s. Ron had done his homework and was able to give a running commentary, having also worked on some of the types in the "RAF". Rog being on hand with practical and sometimes! interesting comments about the aircraft.

The former Air base had a chapel where we were able to congregate for a time of reflection and prayer. Before having lunch around a great big table in the NAAFI (cafe to you ground types). Good fellowship had by all.

More events are planned throughout the year.Keep in touch for details.

Welcome to Men Awake.

March Meeting at the Black Swan

Men Awake met last night (25th March). The upper room was almost full to capacity. To say that this was the second time of meeting, men awake has certainly awoken Mens hearts at All Saints Normanton.

The evening began with Howards opening notices. Date changes to events later on in the year, a mens conference in Manchester during May. All the time the door kept opening as more men arrived. New faces, faces from the past, faces we had never seen before.

The room was filling with MEN who wanted to be there. MEN who wanted to know.

Intro and notices over the evening began with music from Terry Gill. Terry delivered and impeccable performance, the songs and words producing a great spiritual atmosphere. His performances are never the same, having an ability to deliver just what is needed.

The evening continued with a testimony from Ron Young. Ron and his wife Rose came to Normanton last year. His testimony was a facinating insight into a bloke and his Faith. A great encouragment for Chistian Men young and old, new and ancient!

Events are unfolding for the next meeting. The Men Awake Prayer chain gets under way in the near future. Elvington Air Museum, Battlefield Tours, BBQs,great Mens fellowship and motivating spiritual times unfolding for all.
