Verdi’s Requiem is a truly musical work, so much so that in choosing to perform it the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir is doing so in the refurbished glory of Leeds Town Hall at 7.30 pm on Saturday 7th June. They are also inviting some friends to join them, namely the Harrogate Choral Society, the Leeds Met. University Singers and the Manchester Camarata Orchestra and 4 soloists, a total of some 350 musicians on stage. The Requiem is typically Verdi and has been called ‘the greatest opera he ever wrote’ because of its high energy and dynamic contrasts. You will certainly recognise the hand that wrote such works as ‘Aida’ as you listen. Why not have a day out in Leeds and top it off by coming to the performance. Tickets are available direct from the Leeds Town Hall Box Office (0113 2243801 or online), but thanks to a new arrangement for the next week or so the choir members are able to organise tickets for their regular supporters. So have a word with Derek or Dave today or next week so they can secure tickets for you. Tickets are priced between £13 and £28.
CAP Money is a comprehensive yet astonishingly simple money management course to help anyone get, and then stay, in control of their finances. The course is entirely free of charge, and includes a money management pack with
personal budgeting tool.
We’re excited to announce the launch of this pilot course which is being held in the Church, asking that Church
members come along and get involved in the trial before we open it up to the community. The pilot will run for three
consecutive Wednesdays, starting on 28th May 2008, from 7.30 pm. This really is for anyone who runs a household or student budget. Future courses will be open to everyone, whether they are Christian or not.
Through these future courses we aim to bring hope to those in financial difficulty in the local community. Whilst many in the UK are reeling from the growing credit crisis, we are
convinced that, with the launch of CAP Money, many will be saved from slipping further into debt, whist picking up
excellent financial skills that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
Interested? Then please have a word with Shirley,
Virginia, Rose and Ron or ring 01924 897288.
